Mes chéries, if you were wishing for a love life update this Valentine’s Day Survival Guide, join me in the disappointment. My love life is currently an off-limits topic unless you wish to either witness me throw plates out a window and cry from frustration as to what has unfolded in the last 12 months since we last met here on the survival guide series. No one needs to witness that. Despite the heartache I’ve gone through, the last 12 months have taught me so much about how I love. I’ve made some errors in judgment, but each lesson has allowed me to feel so comfortable in my own skin. I finally fell in love with myself and haven’t looked back. I know in time someone else will too.
Single Awareness Day is tomorrow, but we’re not approaching this Valentine’s Day with any sort of “sophisticated” or “enlightening” ramble by Erica (Don’t know what I’m talking about? Click here or here or here). As you may guess, “love” has been a little hard lately. I feel like I’m being tested constantly (for the better I think) and just need a break from all the relationship talk going on inside my head. I’m currently putting all my faith in the hands of time (see my latest podcast episode), letting the universe work things out for me.
So instead of getting all serious and philosophical on love, I wanted to make this guide a lot more lighthearted and fun. I finally attended to my forgotten child (YouTube channel) since you guys all voted on Instagram for a Valentine’s Day Date Night Outfits video. The days of me procrastinating and making empty promises are over!
*drumroll please*
In this video, I share 7 outfits with you. Each outfit is named after a Galentine of mine since Valentine’s Day should also be about showing your girls some love too! I sadly only had 7 outfits so not every important Galentine of mine had a shoutout, but I hope you guys all know who you are and how much I treasure our friendships.
I had so much fun making this video for you guys, and I hope it is helpful. Do leave me a comment below here or on YouTube if you created an outfit from one of mine!
Valentine’s Day Q&A
Q: What romance themed movie/TV show are you watching this year?
A: I’m going to start with To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You because I love Lana Condor with all my heart. Then, I’ll make my way to Crazy Rich Asians because I desperately need a good cry. I will say in preparation for V-Day, I’ve been binging Gossip Girl again and dramatically sighing at how hard I relate to Chuck & Blair.
Q: What is your ideal Valentine’s Day date?
A: I wake up in the morning and go to work to find a giant bouquet of red roses or peonies has been sent to me (no chocolates though, I am not a fan). After basking in the glory of attention from all the people in the office, I proudly strut to the subway carrying these flowers so that everyone knows I have a boo thang. Ideally, we’d either have an overly romantic cheesy night with fancy attire, bougie restaurants, and a night cap at a jazz bar OR do something totally unconventional that I would love because he put in the effort to make it a special memory for me. Yes, I am a hopeless romantic still. Thought someone killed it but someone else resurrected it so you can take it up with them. 😤
Q: Current Valentine’s Day song?
A: Thinking Bout You by Ariana Grande 😬
Q: What are your Valentine’s Day pans?
A: Since it’s also President’s Day Weekend, I’m going on my annual cabin/ski trip with my college friends! I will be packed in an SUV with 4 out of 15 of them for 3.5 hours straight after what has been the longest 1.5 months of our lives so pray for me.
Q: What is the best relationship advice you can give?
A: Even if you have intense passion or chemistry, there will be no love without patience and respect.
That’s all for now, mes chéries! No matter what is going on in your love life, I hope this fun outfits video and Q&A cheered you up. If you’re feeling down about the holiday, remember that there is more to life than romance (coming from someone who is in love with love). If you want love as much as I do, trust that in time everything will work out. Remember what I said last year: “Life often gives us what we need before it gives us what we want.” If you need to work on some aspect of your life right now, don’t feel guilty for it no matter what age/stage you are at in life. Work on it and what you want will come.
Until next time, bisou bisou…
