Autumn OOTD: French Frills

Autumn OOTD: French Frills

Mes chéries, I’M BAAAAACK! It feels so good to sit down and doing what I love again, even though it’s only been a week since my last post. Thank you all so much for being incredibly kind and supportive during my hiatus! I’ve gotten such kind words, DMs, and texts from La Coterie family 💖! I’m doing much better than a week ago. I have to say, it’s been an interesting week of reflecting to say the least, but I’ll get into more of that in a separate Panorama post on Thursday.

Can you believe that it’s FINALLY fall? I don’t, because the past few days have been shy of 90 degrees here in the city. That’s the one awkward thing about the transition from summer into autumn; there is always that period of time from end of September till mid-October where the temperature jumps back and forth between 80s and 60s. So why not take advantage of the varying temperatures by mixing fabrics?

In this #OOTD, I channeled Bouge & Rouge’s French roots with detailed sleeves and collar. I loved this dress when I first saw it online (despite the fact they sneakily decreased the prices between when I purchased it and right now… *sigh*) because of the style of it. It has a charming and quaint flare to it. The one thing I will say is although the fabric is a mix of cotton and polyester, but it’s not very breathable. But on an actual cool autumn day, it can definitely keep you comfortable and cozy! To add a touch of the autumn season to the look, I paired the dress with burgundy lips, a wool burgundy hat, and suede ankle booties.

I’ll leave all the details about the items I’m wearing at the end of the post. For now, let’s take a trip to “Europe” (or NYU’s street of buildings for their Department of Foreign Languages) and celebrate the start of autumn!

(PS: I apologize ahead of time for the photo dump! I rarely ever do that, but with this post I just couldn’t resist 😍 You’ll see what I mean…)

If any of you have ever been in Greenwich Village by the heart of New York University, Washington Square Park, you may have passed by Washington Mews, a cobblestone street of beautiful European homes with adorable colored doors and greenery. This has been one of my favorite streets ever since high school when I first stumbled upon it. I haven’t been back to Europe in 13 years, and I’m definitely planning on returning. I have visited Prague, London, Paris, Switzerland, Czech Republic, and Rome, but all (except Rome) were when I was 3. I’m not sure what my parents were doing taking 3 year old me to a cultural vacation spot… I am excited to save up and revisit these places as an adult very soon!

In the mean time, I made a quick pit stop to “France” despite their “do not stand in front of this door” signs. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Do it for the blog, right?

If you know me, you know that I love using accent colors to bring a certain attitude or aura to an outfit. Sometimes that is easily achievable via a piece of statement jewelry. Other times, you can rely on a bold lipstick💄 or accessory (like a floppy hat) to bring that flare to the look. Fall is the best time to wear dark berry colors, so I simply couldn’t resist adding to this transitional outfit! 💋 Burgundy happens to be one of my favorite colors of all time because I believe it’s universally flattering. I will go on a limb and say I don’t know a single person who doesn’t look good in burgundy whether it’s a clothing item, lipstick, or accessory.

To tie it together, I paired my go-to Kate Spade purse with this look. I loved how the burgundy and pinks on the purse added to the feminine style of this outfit. To be honest, I thought I’d be sick of using this bag every day after all this time, but I’m honestly still in love with it!

Now if you follow me on Twitter, you know that it was about 89 degrees this day. I waited till the golden hour to take photos, mainly because I didn’t want to give myself a heat stroke. But eventually (and quickly) the sun set, ending my little escape trip to “Europe.” I must have felt adventurous as I decided to jet-set my taste buds across to Asia. My roommate and I ended our evening in Europe with dinner in Asia at a local ramen place right next door.

Let’s just say we were both ecstatic to be indoors where there was air conditioning…

That’s all I have for now, mes chéries! I hope you enjoyed the scenic photos of this OOTD and apologize for the massive photo dump again 😂 Thank you so much for joining me on this #OOTD adventure! All the information about my outfit is down below. I inserted the outtakes of me goofing around below for your entertainment as well for a little #BTS peek.

Merci beaucoup, and I’ll see you in the next post!
