OOTD: A Cozy Thought…

OOTD: A Cozy Thought…

Bonjour, mes chéries! Comment ça va?

It’s that time of the year again, the time for fuzzy socks, furry blankets, hot beverages, warm cuddles, and a lot of reflection. Just yesterday, I found my leather bound journal collecting a light layer of dust right behind my neglected Polaroid camera on my white cube shelf. The last entry? This summer. Seeing the large gap between my logged thoughts back then and my mindset now sent me down a path of bittersweet nostalgia. It’s funny how much change a person can go through in a year. As a result, I found myself sitting in the living room of my sorority house, jotting down a few things on my mind, helping me ease my anxiety as I head into what is famously known as the end-of-semester “Hell Week.”

December is one of my favorite months, not necessarily because of the holiday season, but rather because it becomes socially acceptable to burrito yourself in layers stylishly. While Mother Nature has yet to bless my campus with sparkling white snow, I’m thrilled to start the season of fluffy scarves, sweaters, and tall boots.

The first wintery outfit I want to share with you all is one of my all time favorites. It consists of a light cream wool sweater, a navy and gold skater skirt, and knee high socks with my stone colored suede boots. I jazzed it up with an intricate necklace and a hand-knitted infinity scarf made by one of my friends. If the weather outside is frightful, I can easily throw a winter jacket over this look to stay warm. When I’m back indoors, I can easily toss the scarf and enjoy the glory of a central heating system.

The best part about this outfit is that you can change the entire aesthetic of it by simply switching a skirt and pair of boots. However, my favorite aspect is how well it pairs with a burgundy makeup look. In this OOTD, I paired it with a romantic smokey eye using my Lorac Mega Pro 3 palette, Ulta baked eyeshadow in the shade Covet, and Sephora Collection Rouge Infusion lip stain in Cherry Nectar. While the colors I chose were on the heavier side, you can use different colors in the palette to put as little or as much of a holiday season flare to this “Kate Spade-esque” look.

With that, Albearto (our 93″ bear aka my chapter’s Designated Cuddler) and I welcome you warmly into the holiday season. À la prochaine, mes chéries…
